Next move up to the front of your bike and roll back the hood. To remove the cable from the shifter, give the cable a bit of a push and then pull it out through the shifter mechanism. Start by threading the new cable through the shifter ensuring it runs through the correct channel.
When the cable is through the shifter, roll back your hood. Next feed your cable towards your bottom bracket.
If you have internally routed cables make sure you feed it correctly through the guides. Before you fit the cable into the derailleur, wind in the barrel adjuster all the way, then back it off by two full turns.
Take your new section of outer and thread it over the cable. You want as short a length of outer as possible while still ensuring it forms a smooth curve, otherwise it will make shifting harder. Pass the cable through the barrel adjuster and the cable clamp. Pull the cable taut by hand and tighten up the clamp. Give the cable a snip and fit your crimp on the end to stop it fraying. Your aim is to line up the top jockey wheel with the second smallest sprocket.

You should adjust the small round knob barrel adjuster that you see attached to the cable. Turn it in a clockwise motion, this gives you room for further changes later on. The high limit is the higher of the screws and it is placed across from the barrel adjuster. You will need to use a screwdriver to turn it. Unscrew the cable anchor at the bottom of the derailleur just a little. This is what keeps the cable in place. You can now tighten the cable by pulling it and then tightening the cable anchor again. At this point, you can begin to shift the derailleur by turning the pedal to get the wheel spinning. It should shift smoothly. You can now go back to the barrel adjuster and move it in a clockwise direction. This affects how smoothly the gears work as you shift upwards, so you want to see the derailleur moving smoothly after you have adjusted it.
The next step is to move the derailleur to just underneath the biggest of the cogs. With your screwdriver, you can turn the lower limit screw.
The most common adjustment needed her is to turn it in a clockwise direction until it starts to feel tight. Finally, the B tension screw is found under the cable and you can use it to alter the angle of the derailleur. You will want to turn it clockwise, which moves the derailleur down, while counterclockwise movement brings it upwards.
You want to end up with the derailleur close to the cassette but not hitting the cog. This is the mechanism that moves the chain from one ring to another.

Incorrect derailleur adjustment may not sound as dangerous as ineffective brakes, but having a derailleur slip into your spokes, having a chain come off the front chainring, or having your gears slip can all result in a trip to casualty! Put the gear lever into top gear, turn the pedals and allow the chain to go onto the smallest cog on the cassette.
If there is a cable adjuster on the gear lever body, or the derailleur body, screw it almost all the way in clockwise. Screw the rear derailleur barrel adjuster all the way in. Undo the cable-securing bolt on the rear derailleur and move the cable out of the way. Turn the pedals while using your other hand to manually push the rear derailleur in towards the rear wheel. If it goes beyond that cog and falls into the spokes, turn the derailleur adjusting screw in clockwise and repeat step three.
If the chain does not sit comfortably on the biggest cog, unscrew the adjusting screw a little and try again.Rimworld t5 android
Use the adjusting screw and repeat until the chain runs smoothly. Using the gear lever, go through all the gears several times. If the derailleur is slow to go into the lower gears, unscrew the cable adjuster on the derailleur body. If it is slow to go into the higher gears, screw in the cable adjuster.

Put the gear lever into the lowest gear, and if there is a cable adjuster on the gear lever body, screw it almost all the way in. Undo the cable-securing bolt on the operating lever of the derailleur and move the cable out of the way. Undo the bolt and move the cable out of the way. Check that the front derailleur is parallel to the chainring, and there is a gap of around 2mm between the top of the largest chain wheel and the bottom of the outer plate of the front derailleur.
Check the front derailleur is parallel with the chainring.
Use the screw to make sure the chain sits between the side plates on the inner ring. Now with the chain on the smallest cog on the rear cassette, pedal the bike with one hand and pull the front derailleur so that the chain goes onto the largest chainring at the front, and is again in the middle of the derailleur plates. Again in the big ring, make sure the chain sits between the side plates of the front derailleur.
Let the derailleur return to its position over the smallest chain ring. Refit the cable, and tighten the securing bolt. Refit the cable and tighten the securing bolt.
With the bike held off the ground, and the chain now on the largest cog at the back, test the front derailleur by moving the chain between the smallest and next chainring using the gear lever. Put the chain onto the smallest cog on the rear cassette.
If you have a three-ring crankset, repeat the procedure above, this time going from the middle chainring to the biggest chainring. If you find that the derailleur is slow changing up from small to big chainring, unscrew the cable adjuster on the gear lever body a little. Just be sure that is does not then become slow changing down.

Most rides you might never shift the front gears unless there is a large difference in elevation.
Locate the rear gears, the ones attached to your back wheel. These are called a cassette and the individual gears are called cogs. More modern mountain bikes and hybrids will have indexed thumb shifters mounted on the handlebar that you click with your finger and thumb to change gears.
